Overcoming the Effects of Bad Breathing
The Bragg Breathing Exercises and Healthy Lifestyle work to tone and regulate your entire body to make it healthier. Most humans are victims of two bad habits: shallow breathing and incorrect posture. These habits must be overcome. Muscles must be strengthened, especially those of the diaphragm and the abdominal muscles. Unused lung air sacs must be opened and revitalized.
Perhaps you have already experienced a stitch in the side when you have had to run to catch a bus or plane, or while doing some unaccustomed exercise. Actually this can be a good sign, if you will profit by it. It is good to exercise to the point of getting that stitch. What it really means is that you have discovered a large area of unused lung cells, which have remained closed most of your life, since childhood. Now your lungs are opening to receive the fresh air you are pumping in through your efforts to breathe more deeply. The diaphragms of older people can become semi-paralyzed from non-use, but exercise and Bragg Deep Breathing can change that!
As lung cells suffer disuse they begin to stick together and collapse in upon themselves. The sharp pain is due to the air forcing these cells apart. Continue to breathe deeply, even after you have caught the bus, plane or stopped your exercise, run, etc. The distress soon passes and your unused lung cells will soon become reactivated. You will then have made an important step forward in Bragg Super Power Breathing and achieving greater super vitality and health.
If you experience that stitch during the preparatory exercises which we are going to outline, you will now understand what it is caused by and not be alarmed. Just keep on deep breathing for more super energy!
