Sleep in a well-ventilated (airy) room on a firm mattress with cotton percale or flannel sheets. Use the same natural fabrics, also silk is nice for nightwear, or wear nothing. Don’t use electric blankets or heating pads, because these devices will disturb your body’s natural currents and according to scientists can even be harmful to your health. A hot water bottle is safer.

Be sure there’s ample fresh air circulating in your room. If not, do these exercises before an open window. We want you to get full benefit of these stimulation exercises and to enjoy every minute of it. If it’s too cool when you get out of bed, put on something that is loose and warm. We often wear sweatshirts and sweatpants.

As you start doing your exercises you will soon feel a wonderful glow of circulation coming over your entire body as you become warm. When you feel warm enough, peel off your sweat clothes and get right down to your bare skin. Give yourself an external as well as an internal air bath. Let your 96 million pores breathe in the breath of life, too. Remember that you also breathe through your skin! It’s an important organ of respiration – often called your third lung.
