Do this exercise in the bathroom soon after rising each morning, and several times within an hour after eating. If you make this a habit, you will soon find you will have a bowel movement within an hour after eating.

Exhale and inhale as at the beginning of Exercise 1. Now, holding your breath, clasp hands in front and slowly lower yourself into a relaxed squatting position while still holding breath. Then strain for a bowel movement for several seconds. Return to a standing position and complete exercise, now exhaling and inhaling as in the previous exercises.

Note: Squatting is the natural way to have a bowel movement. Children squat naturally. It opens up the anal area more directly. Putting your feet up on a wastebasket or footstool when on the toilet will give you this same effect.

Remember your body needs lots of water, if the kidneys are to function normally. If you must use diuretics, water and herbals are gentler. Gradually increase water intake to 8 to 10 glasses of water daily to fight dehydration.
