rispost Brisk Walking is the King of Exercise

As we stride along on our walks we say, “Health, Strength, Youth, Vitality, Peace, Love, Joy, Eternity!” With walking you discover the beauty of God and Mother Nature as it awakens, softens and enriches your soul and life! Walk briskly at least one to three miles every day and more when you have time. Don’t make excuses! Make your daily walk a fixed routine no matter what kind of weather. In stormy weather, walk inside your home, on your porch or driveway, in the mall, etc. When traveling, use hotel hallways, stairs or even the treadmill or exercise equipment in the hotel’s gym. Walking can be done anytime, anywhere. Start today!

Dad and I always prefer outdoor fresh air walking, but walking indoors is far better than no walking at all. When traveling the world on our Bragg Health Crusade tours, we often take a light jog or a brisk evening walk through the corridors of our hotel or up and down the hotel stairs. Our favorite places for brisk walks are beaches, hills and the open decks of cruise ships.

Walking Builds New Blood Vessels

American Health reported that Dr. Gary Giangola, a vascular surgeon at New York University Medical Center, prescribed walking instead of bypass surgery for one of his patient’s atherosclerosis. It was so pervasive it had severely restricted the blood flow to the legs and was causing extreme pain and numbness in his patient’s feet. Dr. Giangola told his patient that if he walked one mile every day (even if he had to stop every two blocks to recover), he would build new blood vessels (collaterals) which would bypass his closed arteries. He enjoyed his recovery.

Recent studies revealed that fat stored in the body’s “spare tire” around the waist increases risk for diabetes, heart disease and other serious health problems! Studies shocking fact: the bigger the waistline, the shorter the lifespan!
